What is your process for a writing project?
First, I want to find out as much about your business or
organization as I can, so I have a series of questions I ask new
clients. They include asking you about your competitors, your
motivations for starting your business, what is unique about your
product or service and what is your current market position…and that
is just getting started.
I will then want to know as much as I can about your target audience
– who they are, what they like and what do you want them to do (for
example, buy your product or service, feel good about their
purchase, join your organization). If we haven’t discussed it
already, we will talk about the vehicle you will use to connect with
them –and once that is decided, we can determine the timeframe and
cost.
Lastly, I get to work. I like to keep an open dialog so if I have
any questions or you need to provide additional information, my
lines of communication are always open. Once you receive your first
draft, you let me know if you have any additions or corrections and
after I take care of those, your project is complete. It’s that
simple. And because I know your background, if you have additional
writing projects in the future, it will be even simpler the next
time we work together.
Do you require a deposit at the start of the project?
Yes, for projects over $100, I ask for a small good faith deposit
and your approval on a simple letter of agreement where all terms
are explained and agreed upon.
What are your terms for payment and what forms of payment do you accept?
Full payment of the project is due once the client has
approved the final version and the project is completed. To
make it easier for my clients, I am now accepting VISA/Debit
cards payments through PayPal.
What if I am a new business and in need of your services but can’t answer
your marketing questions such as who my target audience or competitors are?
I offer a new service where I do preliminary research and provide a
basic marketing plan to help clients in the start-up or ramp-up
phase of their business. The plan will help focus a client’s
marketing efforts and answer the general questions he or she will
need to know before working with any professional writer. Please
contact me for more details.
Once you have written a press release for me, can you submit it to various
publications and track the results for me?
Those services are typically provided by a public relations agency
but I do provide clients with a service that includes writing the
release and posting it on PR Web for mass distribution. I charge a
nominal fee plus the cost PR Web charges for posting.
Once the writing is completed and approved, can you coordinate the graphics
and printing of the project too?
Right now, my business is focused on the editing and writing aspect
only but I do work with a few talented project coordinators who can
coordinate the graphics work and printing for you. They also provide
services such as creating advertisements if that is something you
need as well. Just click onto my
